THE EMERGING DEVELOPMENT OF QUALITATIVE LABOUR PRODUCTIVITY MEASUREMENT IN THE SERVICE SECTOR

Around 200 years, labour productivity is evaluated in the manufacturing field, based on the economic situation, where outcomes and inputs are more quantitative. Whilst production remains important for economic growth, the world has evolved into service value reliance, where service industries become increasingly important for countries to confront the highly competitive business challenges of today. Productivity measures in the service sector are more complex than manufacturing. Unlike manufacturing industry, service industry deals heavily on the sustainability of close human interaction are not only concerned with quantities. The qualitative measure is important in the service industry because the service is more responsive and relies on the staff and customers in the service process. The main idea of the article is to identify qualitative labour productivity measurements in the service sector at a micro - level, which are still being researched and not covered by most productivity studies. This research has also contributed to the understanding the unique problems and the need to find a suitable model in measuring the firm’s performance in a service-based industry. The paper presents a conceptual basis for the formulation of qualitative labour productivity estimation through a comprehensive systematic review to make available information in the current literature objectively and chart extensive qualitative labour productivity practices from empirical studies and identify areas for future research. Furthermore, the ability to identify a standard qualitative measurement of labour productivity from this research would enable managers in the service sector to use such productivity measures to assess labour productivity more accurately in their institution.

Purpose we make the Travel Side Bag as our innovation is to solve of lost small important small things when travel like passport, cards, smart phone. There are three objectives of this side bag includes, to simplify movement of travelers, to reduced waste time to search important things, and to easily bring important things anywhere. This side bag is like the armband but, we improved it to be more efficicient. The originality of product is Armband pouch. The product are already and existence in market. Normally the product are use by sport person when they have training include, gym fitness, running, and physical training (PT). The product help to put their smart phone easily at their arm when their do sport trainning. It is because, when their training, they will wear a sport clothes that mostly tight. So this product can simplify their movement in doing activities. We were make new the armband pouch to more usefullness especially for travelers. We improved the armband become to ‘Side Bag’ that have many special faeatures. The Side Bag will put it side of person tight. So, it more comfortable than put it at the arm because, arm can not support heavy of mobile phone in long time nd it will cause problem like hand down. It also can use by traveler to put many small things includes passport, mobile phone, cards, coin, money, earfone, and many else. It also waterproof and can avoid the electronic thing exposed to water in rainy day. It also help travelers to simplify checks their important things with just looked at the side of their tight wihout open many of zips. It also safe from theft case because it put side of traveler thight and their eyes can see clearly at Side Bag. In addition, their hand also near to the Side Bag that can reduced risk of theft.

English operates as an international lingua franca and one has to master the communication skills to experience success in his/her respective fields. However, after going through eleven years of formal education, ESL learners in Malaysia still encounter several challenges in delivering their ideas creatively. This study investigates ways to enhance students’ speaking skills in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) speaking task by using figurative expressions. This study adopted a mixed method design: pre-test, post-test and feedback on learners’ perceptions via structured interviews. This study involved two phases. Phase One consists of only experimental group. In Phase One, the students were given a speaking pretest. They played a language game called Pull Out All the Stops!, four times before attempting the speaking post-test. The language game enables ESL learners to use metaphorical expressions which consists of one level of game cards. The students showed a peripheral betterment in their performance; pretest =11.5172 (m) and post-test =12.3966 (m). The students revealed in the structured interview that they had challenges in responding to the metaphorical expressions as they were foreign to them. Somehow, they enjoyed playing the game as the context were stress-free as there was no ‘teacher’ monitoring them closely. Phase Two consists of experimental and control groups. This phase incorporated three different levels of game cards (metaphorical expressions). The students in the experimental group had the opportunity to play all three levels of the game cards. Once they completed Level 1 of the game with at least 75% of correct responses, these students progressed to Levels Two and Three. Both the experimental and control groups sat for the pre and post-tests. The students in the control group participated in the spoken task in groups of four or five without having played the game. In the experimental group, the students played Pull Out All the Stops! four times. The results indicated that both groups showed improvement; the control group scored an average mean M=16.1471 in pre-test and scored M=17.8095 in the post-test. However, the experimental group showed a significant improvement with (M=16.1471) pre-test to post-test (M=18.5294), p+.000. The students in the experimental group shared that the game provided them the opportunity to use metaphorical expressions in the right context in a formal and informal setting. Pull Out All the Stops! was stimulating and exciting language game.

Passive spectrum monitoring solution device is essentially required for the telco industry and military. There are few objectives for this project. This futuristic device can detect any spectrum that lingering around in free space. With this device, it is lightweight and can carry to anywhere at any time. Moreover, it is cheap and affordable to be purchased. Simple circuit is used for the assembly of the hardware to ease for any troubleshoot. 1.8GHz rectangular patch antenna is used for receiving the input signal from the free space. In order to design the antenna, CST software is used to do simulation for the designed antenna. It can detect any spectrum from 24MHz to 1766 MHz as it using Rafael Micro R820T, which is RTL-SDR dongle for the tuner. Thus, the signal can be processed by using a microcontroller called as Raspberry Pi. Python language is used as coding for the software application. Raspbian OS, which is an operating system for the Raspberry Pi has been installed so that the microcontroller can be used as desktop like a computer. It acquired power supply from the powerbank, which can be carried around without getting attached by the power supply socket. A 3.5” LCD touchscreen attached on top of the microcontroller is used as the interface of the Raspbian OS and monitor the output of the project. Last but not least, SSH connection is used as Internet of Things (IoT) to act as remote control from the phone.

Lumos Altilium: A Novel Organic Dry-Cell Battery Generated from Thunnus albacares (Yellowfin Tuna) BIo-waste


Electricity has become one of the many problems we face worldwide. Along with the rapid growth of technology, people have found the need to find alternative sources of energy such as batteries. This study used Thunnus albacares bio-wastes to produce an alternative source of energy and compared its longevity and voltage production with a commercial battery. The yellowfin tuna bio-wastes were air-dried, charred and reduced to ashes. These ashes were substituted to the chemical dusts or powder used in commercial batteries. After the construction of the yellowfin tuna bio-waste filled batteries (Lumos Altilium), the longevity and voltage production were tested and recorded. In terms of longevity, the Lumos Altilium lasted an average of 4.64 hours while the commercial batteries lasted up to 3.52 hours. The test for voltage production also showed that Lumos Altilium had an average of 1.63 volts while the commercial battery had an average of 1.50 volts. One Sample T-test on the voltage test results showed that there was no significant difference between the Lumos Altilium and the commercial ones at 0.05 level of significance. Moreover, Independent Sample T-test conducted on the longevity test showed that the Lumos Altilium lasted significantly longer than the commercial ones at 0.05 level of significance. This study then concludes that the battery generated from the yellowfin tuna bio-waste ashes have a comparable performance to commercial batteries and can be a viable substitute to chemicals placed in the batteries. For future research endeavors, the researcher suggests to find ways for the constructed batteries to yield the same voltage, create batteries of different sizes at varied voltage, and analyze the presence of other heavy metal content in the pure yellowfin tuna bio-waste ash samples.

Ethnopharmacological Study on the Anti-Aniogenic Potential and Cytotoxic Property of Barringtonia asiatica (Buro Bitoon): Its Potential as an Epidermal Organic Tumor Patch



Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide. Over 10 million new patients are diagnosed with cancer annually with over 6 million associated deaths, representing roughly 12% of worldwide mortality. The occurrence of new cancer cases is expected to grow by about 70% over the next two decades and estimated to reach over 15 million new cases diagnosed annually by the year 2020. This study investigated on the anti-angiogenic property and cytotoxicactivities of Barringtonia asiatica (Buro bitoon). Ethanolic extracts of Barringtonia asiatica fruit and leaves were subjected to phytochemical screening and were tested for toxicity and angiogenic activity. Qualitive chemical analysis revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenols, and tannins. Test for angiogenesis revealed a strong pro-angiogenic property of ethanolic extract at 1000mg and 500mg. Median lethal concentrations (LC50) were found to be 147.91 and 338.84 for the leaves and the seeds, respectively. LC50 of the extract were higher than the 20 ug/mL limit, this implies that the extract can have minimal toxicity toward human body cells. The aforementioned results which revealed the bioactive property of Barringtonia asiatica can therefore be used for future pharmacological treatment specifically as epidermal tumor patch that will aid in the fight and flight response for cancer.

Artoware: an Organic Biodegradable Cutlery made from Artocarpus odoratissimus (Marang) Seed Agro-waste


Human’s intervention on the environment through plastic pollution aggravated the speed of climate change. Along with the popularity towards green movement, people are finding alternatives to replace single-use products such as plastic utensils. In this regard, Artoware, a new line of organic single-use edible cutlery made from Artocarpus odoratissimus (marang) seeds was invented. This aims to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable consumption and production.
In making this product, marang seeds were gathered and were turned in to flour to make the dough. It was flattened, formed using a specialized cutter and baked in an oven and cooled. After the Artoware cutleries were made, the solubility and biodegradability were tested and recorded. The researchers also conducted a taste test to analyze the taste satisfaction of the product. In terms of its solubility, the cutleries dissolved at an average of 17.38 minutes submerged in hot water while the products submerged in tap water dissolved in 12 hours. Independent samples test on the solubility test showed the rho-value of 0.00 which was lesser than the margin of error which is 0.05. Therefore, there is a significant difference between the dissolving time of products in hot water and tap water. The test for biodegradability showed that the cutleries buried in the soil for 4 days degraded at an average of 15.56%, therefore the cutleries will take 25.71 days to fully decompose. In terms of taste, the participants favored a batch of pieces of cutleries with add-on ingredients such as milk, honey, and vanilla extract to satisfy the aroma, taste and texture of the product.
Artoware cutlery made from marang seeds therefore is the future’s better alternative for single-used plastics. It will be a new generation product line in the cutlery industry to combat plastic pollution in the promotion of sustainable consumption and production.

This study aims to develop Augmented Reality on Penang’s street art to enhance tourists experience in tourism. The problem statement of this project is lack of information on street art and the difficulty to preserve street art. The first objective of this study is to preserve the cultural heritage of Penang’s street art through Augmented Reality. The second objective is to develop an animated augmented reality with text, music and graphics that can educate and enhance tourist's experience with Penang’s street art. The product is developed through Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Unity3D. The methodology of this research project is qualitative and uses Alessi and Trollip Model (2001) as a reference in the development of the project. An interview was conducted with one multimedia expert, one animation expert, one augmented reality expert, one tourism consultant and three multimedia students. The results show that the research objective of this study was successfully achieved. Augmented Reality application provides a new experience for tourists in their search of street art in Penang to learn more about the history of Penang and to experience enhanced tourism. Through the interview, the experts, tourism consultants and multimedia students were satisfied with this augmented reality application in enhancing Penang’s street art.
